Just cold air. It blows out the device they use for the procedure, and helps provide a mild numbing effect and reduce the heat and pain of the laser on the skin. They don't use any kind of numbing agent, i think cos it's painful, but a bearable level of pain, so for a 15 minute procedure it'd be a bit excessive. No need to risk people having reactions to anaesthetics if it's something you can just power through.

Main way i can describe the sensation is it's a bit like having a tiny taser repeatedly applied and moving steadily across your face. Unpleasant but bearable. It's just worse for those of us with thicker hair, like AMABs trying to get rid of our beards. Or for people with darker skin/lighter hair.

In the end, the ones i feel really sorry for are the technicians. They've told me they've been punched, kicked, even bitten, in response to the procedure. I can't imagine coming to work every day knowing i may well be assaulted by the people paying me to do the things that make them attack me.

Oh my gosh, the poor techs! 🥺 I never knew they took such a beating (and the biting good grief!) I could never do their work because my reflex to hit back would fight my ability to process any other thoughts 😅

How many sessions do you have to do?

Seriously. They're hardcore that they keep working in that field and just taking it from their clients.

I signed up for 8 sessions, cos that's what it should take to achieve the desired results. Then i'll still need to come in once every 2 or 3 months, just to keep it from coming back. That shouldn't be too bad, given it'll just be killing off finer hairs before they can become a real problem. And if i'm lucky, regrowth won't be too big an issue and i'll only need to have it done once or twice a year after a while.

Anthrocon cancelled the Fursuit Parade and Block Party that was supposed to be downtown tomorrow due to the heat and severe weather forecast. I wasn't planning on going myself, but it's still fun and something I love about my city, so it makes me sad that it's not happening. They said the alternative events would be indoors at the convention center, so there's not as much of an opportunity for the people of the city to come together with the con attendees.

So (can't remember what all i have shared) but, originally my doctor said sge would put me on metformin with my type 2 diabetes diagnosis when I saw her in person. Okay, then sge sent in some medicine, once a week injection, which she later told me to disregard because insurance wouldn't cover it until I tried ozempic. So sge sent in ozempic. Okay, well insurance denied it saying I needed to try metformin first. Ffs why didn't she just do that first!?

Took my first dose of metformin today and already having stomach troubles. There's certain foods that are best to avoid apparently to help reduce some side effects of the medicine, but I already have food sensitivities to certain things and feel limited enough. Honestly I feel like what's the point in eating at all right now and I think tonight it is just making my ed thoughts flare and bother me. I haven't had too many thoughts or troubles with my ed for a while and it is upsetting to feel them start to resurface.

I get how frustrating it must be to already feel so limited, then get limited even further by the risk of feeling so rough. But i'm seriously asking, even though i have no right to, please keep eating. You are worthy regardless of your weight, and what the spiders are telling you has no actual merit to it. They're just trying to reinforce a cycle of feeling like shit, and treating yourself like shit in response. *sadhug

I think you will always have a right to ask that of me. I promise I will keep eating. I think it just finally got to me and it feels a bit harder to just settle the thoughts tonight. I think it got to me more to realize that out of all of the groceries mom got I cant eat any of it except for one or two things and I have to wait for my food stamps to come in which won't be until the 21st. (I am having issues with things at home so I am stuck here at her place without much of a choice until I can get my pell grant refund after I get all of my materials and tutuion covered which won't be until the end of august)

I completely get it. It's been a long time since my truly disordered eating days, and i still get some stuff that stirs things up inside me. Then i can start to hear the old spiders in my head growing louder the longer it goes on. Some things really do just have this way of grinding you down and making you relapse into unhealthy behavioural patterns.

And staying with your mum again, it doesn't surprise me it's provoking some unhealthy thoughts for you. I seriously wish she would just be the mother you deserve and so badly need in your life. But i got a very good idea just exactly the kind of person she is in truth. I can't fault you at all that it's having an impact on your sense of self-worth, and provoking harmful instincts in your mind.

But yeah, if it helps at all, i always see you as a very valuable person, one of the best people in fact, who i still care for deeply. And it would genuinely make me really sad to learn you'd been hurting yourself by starving yourself again. You deserve better than that, i can promise you that in complete honesty. *hug

Exactly. This is my first time I think that I've had it pop up and just nag at my brain in the last year. It would be so nice if the spiders could just all go f-off 😅

You'll be happy to know that I have made tremendous improvements with not letting much of my mom get to me. With some exceptions obviously. I don't feel myself caring as much about her or what she does or how she treats me (although she has been ignoring me a lot lately but acknowledging my sister in front of me so that's been a bit hurtful and upsetting which I guess will always feel that way). But for most things she does, how she behaves, most of how she speaks to me it's really just all about her. It has nothing to do with me. It's her own issues that she can't come to terms with so I'm her punching bag. I just finally was able to get to a point where I can say "I don't care" and that I'm not so bothered by her childish behavior. Because that's all it is. (I've been also thinking about my future more and other things, and my plans and thoughts for my future has definitely made it so much easier for me to get to this point now too).

I want you to know that I feel the same. You mean the world to me and I am always over here cheering you on in life and always will be *brohug

That shows so much growth, seriously. Cos you're absolutely right. Some people in life will just treat you like their punching bag, and take all their issues out on you. Unfortunately, sometimes it's people we let close to us, or who life places close to us. And taking all of that on, even from them, it's just not a sustainable way to be.

Your mum is a nasty piece of work. I feel mean saying it, but it's true. And that doesn't reflect on anybody other than her. It certainly doesn't reflect on you. Like, if anything, a pattern i tend to see is that people like her are the meanest to the truly decent, caring, compassionate people in their lives. I'm not sure why, maybe they don't like the contrast to their own awfulness or something. But whatever the reason, it shows that if anything, the way she acts towards you is evidence you're doing things right. I personally think she likely treats your sister differently cos she's still clinging onto some hope she can turn her to the dark side.

You've done well to not let her mold you into a copy of her. It can be so easy in life to let cruelty shape you into a cruel person. Hurt people hurt people and all that. But you continue to be kind, and decent, and sweet in spite of that. And it takes genuine strength. I'm sincerely proud of you for showing that strength, and i'm sincerely proud of you that you're learning to see your own value.

My headphones keep cutting in and out...probably because the base of my computer is cracked in some parts, so they don't stay plugged in all the way. So yeah, the obvious answer would be to get a new computer and headphones, but not sure when I can afford any of that.

Gotta love the image. I remember my mom taking me and my brother to see the movie when we were kids. :)

I don’t mind the sound of children running around and laughing and playing, but when they start screaming for literally no reason it gets really aggravating really quick. The neighbors are having a party and a couple of kids had a literal screaming contest, to see who was the loudest.

Oh well, it’s not going to be the only, or even the loudest, sound that annoys me today.

My unit is in the third floor. I am usually cautious of opening the front door to make sure none of my cats escape, the orange/white one did today, she was running in the hallway meowing in a scared manner and when I was trying to coax her she has the audacity to hiss at me, the nerve of this cat, i am your mother don’t you dare speak to me that way, i was able to grab her by the back of her neck and brought her back inside the apartment while I’m telling her how much of a brat she is.

she booped nose with one of my cats then she started having the zoomies.
