The road to weight loss

I got a Fitbit on Black Friday and I really like it a lot ! I make sure I burn at least 450 calories a day during my workouts with it but it’s usually more if I hit the gym. Tomorrow will be day 60 of my workouts. Technically day 64 but I took 3 days off when I went to comic con and a day off for thanksgiving. I don’t feel like I look much different from when I started but people say I do so that’s cool. I really need to go clothes shopping so maybe when I buy smaller clothes it’ll all sink in. I have noticed my pants don’t really fit right so it’ll be nice to confirm my progress with a new wardrobe
I'd like to get back into my fitness routine. Its a challenge when you have limited space to work out in. Gyms are so expensive. The one I went to was dirty and half the equipment was broken. I love walking, but its been so cold lately.

So I’ve been working on losing weight ever since October 4 and I want to log my progress. I’ve managed to workout everyday for at least 30-40 minuets at home using low impact workout videos or going to the gym doing a mile of cardio on a treadmill and 20 minuets of weight exercises. For my diet I’ve been trying to eat 1400-1500 calories a day, drinking only water and green tea and eating no junk food, more fruits and veggies and counting calories. At the doctor (before I started) I weighted 307 pounds. Yesterday when I went I weighed 282 pound! A whole 25 pound difference! To tell you the truth I am very proud of myself! I plan on keeping up this lifestyle forever if I’m lucky but I sure can tell you I can’t wait until I get to the point were I can ease up on my workouts and diet a little! lol
That's amazing! I wish that I exercised more than I did now... I'm not good at physical weight loss, but right now I'm on day 2 of my starvation week. Dieting is fun! By the way, you lost 25 pounds? That's amazing! Keep up the good work!

I drink 2-3 cups of green tea a day and I try to drink 40-64 ounces of water a day also. I don’t drink my calories. I eat frozen dinners like lean cuisines or I’ll make baked fish or chicken with mixed veggies and sweet potato. I like to eat apples, grapes, granola bars and low fat yogurt for snacks when I’m still hungry. I’ve stopped buying junk food, eating fried foods and if I do go out to eat for example I’ll get a grilled chicken sandwich and not a hamburger, so healthier options. I do a 20 minute beginner cardio video and a 15 minute beginner weight training video every morning or if I go to the gym I do at least 1.25 miles on a treadmill and about 20 minuets of different weight machines. I make no excuses about working out unless it’s a holiday or I go on vacation.
Thank you for replying :) I'm going to add green tea into my diet. I also happen to like sweet potato so might try that too. I eat low fat yogurt as snacks :) Thanks for the valuable information and as for people noticing your weight loss. Kudos to you :) you'll get there, you sound determined. It certainly isn't easy but you've got in in you :)

WanT to add... I am really proud of you. 35 pounds is a LOT of weight, think about how much a pound of butter is, its huge. It takes commitment and determination to lose 35lbs and you're still on track, you should be proud of yourself. Keep it up :)

So I really kicked up my cardio at the gym. I started going 2.5 miles per hour on the treadmill and a couple days ago I decided to see how long I could go at that speed. Turns out I went for a full hour and walked 2 and a half miles! I just finished another 2 and a half miles today and I think I’ll keep doing it. My Fitbit says I burn upwards to 900 calories and I hope it true lol. I also decided to take 1 day off a week so I can rest, I rather enjoy it.

I haven’t posted in so long! I’ve still been keeping up my health and fitness since the last post though so don’t worry lol. Looks like I was 272 pounds the last time I posted and I’m now about 235 pounds currently! My new goal is to get as close to 200 pounds as I can by September when I got on my week long Disney cruise. I actually reduced my workouts to 5 days a week recently and I love cardio so much that I do a hour and 20 minuets of it every time I hit the gym. I started working out mostly because I hated the fact that I was almost to fat to fit on the rides at Disney last year, it’s my yearly tradition to go and I didn’t want to lose the happiness I feel when I go. I can’t wait to see the difference when I go this year exactly a year later. I think once I get to 200 pounds then I’ll be happy overall. I even went from a 2X T-shirt and a size 22 pants to a 1X and size 18 pants.

How did you get the motivation to start? And, congrats. You have every reason to be proud. It’s such hard work.

I was sick of being fat and not liking what I saw in the mirror. It all came to a head when on my annual trip to Disney, I was almost to big to fit on the rides. As soon as I got home I started working out and eating better.that was 8 long months ago. Now I feel weird if I don’t workout and I love cardio.

You are doing so well, proud of you, hope I can make it down to your weight at some stage, your hard work has paid off, well done and hope you reach your target of 200 in September :) You're an inspiration.

I truly believe weight loss is one of the most challenging things a human being can face. It takes a lot of discipline, dedication and hard work.

I have been taking iron pills because I found out I’m anemic. I think it helps with my energy. My weight was 235 and it’s now 228lb. to be honest I’m no where near as strict with my diet as I used to be. I still don’t drink soda or buy junk food but do go out to eat and sometimes indulge in fast food. I feel like my metabolism has kick up a few notches. I still work my butt off at the gym and I now make my own meals from Pinterest instead of eating frozen dinners. That way I can meal plan and enjoy my hobby of cooking. It’s so surreal looking at pictures of myself before I started working out lol I feel so happy knowing I don’t look like that anymore, I’m much more happy with my body.

@cvb2377 Totally delighted for you. Well done, despite the metabolism issue you still have lost 7 lbs and that is incredible and you worked for that and you worked hard. Can I ask what you do at the gym and for how long? Awesome that all your meals are now home cooked, you must be thrilled with your lifestyle change. I am proud of you. Congratulations :) And what I really admire is the fact you have not given up and appear not to anytime soon. Sending my congrats to you :)

At the gym I get on the treadmill and I turn the incline up and I make sure it’s going 3 miles per hour. I stay on there for a hour and 20 minuets and then I’m done! It’s not easy but form the readings on my Fitbit it says I burn about 1200 calories doing this. I go to the gym 4-5 days a week

This is wonderful and I can say from personal experience that this is an important step in getting healthy. In April I threw down the gauntlet and finally found the strength to change my relationship with food. Every meal I eat now is made from real food: real meat, real vegetables, real ingredients. It's fun to cook for myself and the meals are delicious, even decadent sometimes! I've lost 20 pounds. It's not easy to make changes to habits that have been part of our life for most of our life, so I applaud you for being able to make this decision and stick with it. Best of luck to you on your journey toward health and happiness!
