I'm a very strong believer in ghosts so I believe some, if not all of us, become ghosts after we die. Possibly only those who have had un-natural or premature deaths. As for those who die naturally I imagine we simply fade away peacefully. I'm not really certain what my stance is on heaven and/or hell. Perhaps in the moments before we pass on into nothing-ness, we either feel at peace or we feel tormented. Though then there is the question of what would merit someone feeling peace, and someone feeling torment.. Ooh bother. I just don't know.

I can't really conjure an idea of what's after death, but I'd say something in between being reborn as someone or something and maybe being a spirit. In a way it kinda excites me ...

My guess is nothing. We can easily observe that sensation, thinking, and consciousness are all linked inextricably to a functioning brain. So scientifically, the most reasonable assumption would be that these phenomena cease to exist when the brain shuts down.

I hope it's the case. There would be no beauty in death if all it did was result in more life. Not to mention the nightmarish inescapability of such a scenario.

EDIT: I think it's very odd that "nothingness" was not an explicit option in the poll, given that it's one of the most common hypotheses on the subject.

I think either its like sleeping without having a dream just a permanent loss of conciousness. Become a spirit. Or go to heaven or hell (for me honestly im not sure where id go). Theyre in order of which I think happens most likely to least likely.

I think that there will be nothingness after death, but I also fear that I will go to hell, just because it is a possibility and a likely one given my actions in life. I also hold the possibility of rebirth or becoming a spirit, but only because they are ideas that have not been refuted, so I won't disregard them. I think that if there is a soul, then there will be an afterlife. Since there is no proof of one, I am inclined to believe that this life is all that there is.

I hope that I am reborn into something simple and beautiful... like a dragonfly, butterfly or firefly.
It would be good to bring a smile to someone's face once before I die.

This. If I had to be reborn as something, I'd pick something that only lives for a short while, graces the world with its simple beauty, then quietly passes away. The body I currently inhabit is too ugly, and far too long-lived.

I chose 'Other'. I don't believe there's anything after a thing dies, except for organic decomposition. Thoughts and mind (the spirit), are products of the conscience. The conscience is a product of the brain. When the brain dies, so does it. There is nothing to look forward to except the sack of dead meat becoming worm's food, or ashes.

At least that's how I see it. Yyyyyyyyep. That's about it.

I chose 'other'. I honestly think that there's nothing after life. it just ends. you see nothing, feel nothing. your last breaths are literally the last moments to think of anything in your life.. that's how i see it, until it is proven that we transform into spirits or go to heaven or whatever. Sounds kinda depressing, but it doesn't sound too shabby to me right now.

I chose spirit because after death your soul/essence/energy comes out of your body and goes into a transition...I believe that you can either choose to intergrate into a collective of souls, re incarnate or stay stuck as a ghost...I dont believe in heaven or hell...life can be either so theres no need for it in death...

thats my belief though

No..Never..after death you finished.. no one can proved that after death he reborn,if he reborn then why he is not able to talk about his last life... these all are the imaginary things.. so we get life once, and we should enjoy it..tomorrow never comes.. we have to live in present only. No one have seen tomorrow.. thanks..

I am just wondering what you all think will happen to you if die.
How do you, if you believe there is, vision the after life?

i am infinitely too stupid to know for certain. but here is what i think, what i believe, what i pray:

i pray that i leave this natural life soon. my pain is too great, my hope is too small.

and so, for all of us...

i pray that all things are living things.

i pray that all life is eternal.

i pray that when we pass from this natural life, we (our soul? our energy? our essence? other?) live on.

perhaps in human form.

perhaps in a place called heaven, perhaps in this world, perhaps in another.

i pray that everyone and everything is saved.

i pray that we are reunited with those we love and care about, and with those who love and care about us.

in life and love and peace and freedom and beauty and health and happiness.

eternally.
