an emergency box is a great idea.

mine would include:
- a book i haven't read that looks interesting
- a book i have read that i love
- paper, pen, dictionary
- money to buy myself a treat
- a card that my dad gave me years ago that always makes me happy (and a little sad, but in a cathartic way) whenever i read it
- a picture of my favorite pet who passed away many years ago
- a copy of one of my favorite cd's (haven't decided yet which one is worthy ... that decision could take some time)
- several pictures of myself and my best friend, my brother and sister.
- a laptop with a wireless network

This is a really good idea although I think that I would never get around to actually putting all of this stuff together, but just thinking about it I would want to bring:
1. Debit card
2. Friends and Family (especially my baby boy)
3. Pictures of family and friends if I couldn't bring them with me
4. Cell phone (with everyone's number of course)
5. A computer
6. Pencil and paper (can't live without it)
7. Chocolate
8. Diet Dr. Pepper
9. Music!
10. My love
11. Things to remind me that I'm cared about (letters, cards, etc.)
12. More music!
13. Happy thoughts
14. Humor! (or sarcasm  )
15. Everybody from SF!

That was pretty cool to think about and it made me feel a bit better, knowing that I had something to put in my box, regardless of how silly it might be.

A picture of my brother's kids, who I wouldn't get to see grow up

A book about the psychological effects of suicide on survivors, what it does to them.

The names, photos and addresses of all the people who know how bad parts o fmy life has been, and how proud they are of me for overcoming them.

A list of all the events in my past which have been very trying and hard, but which I still overcame and survived.

Info on how statistically unlikely it is that I will commit suicide, along with information now what I can do to improve my life so I don't desire to die anymore.

Phone numbers and emails of people, even anonymous people like the samaritans, I can talk to if things get really bad for me.

The book 'the singularity is near', which will remind me of all the amazing things the world is going to accomplish in the next 60 years. Ending poverty and famine, nanotechnology, biotechnology, understanding the brain in depth, meaningful inroads against suffering and mental illness, etc. If I'm dead I won't get to have a hands on interaction with these advances. Not only that, but how many beautiful songs, beautiful movies and beautiful places have not visited? How many great pieces of art haven't been invented yet? How many diseases haven't been conquered yet but will in the next 60 years? On this board someone mentioned the song 'concrete angel', and I watched the video on youtube and really liked it. How many thousands of great songs, movies, shows and friends have I not seen yet?

Info on all the things I can do to improve my mood including exercise, drugs, nutrients, cogntive tools, etc.

A mock letter from family and friends telling me they would rather I be 100% honest with them about my pain and fear and/or be a total failure in several areas of life, but still be alive over take my own life rather than talk to them.

Various pieces of memorabilia I have collected over the years from various situations.

This is a very good idea. I am going to build one (an emergency box).

Hi Sophie-
I like this idea too though I don't have a box picked out or know what I would put in it.
I have little emergency "things" all over the place though. Hotline number, soft blanket, favorite sweatshirt, the pictures on my wall, my converse high tops (emergency wear- I only wear them right now- when I look down at my feet and see my coverse- they seem so confident and cheerful-
My cat likes to sit in boxes so as long as I leave the lid open... ;0)

I think I already have a post much further back here, but that was a long time ago. New stuff for box now : )

1: The pictures that me and Susan took in the studio - To remind me how much I love her, and would miss her
2: A CD with some good music on ot - Not my normall stuff... that just makes me feel worse, maybe some Bon Jovi, Brian Adams, The Hives, that kinda stuff, it makes me happy
3: Some Kratom (It's not ilegal so why not) - I really don't think I could feel suicidal while on this stuff. It just makes me feel happy, and it lasts hours!
4: Emergency Smokes - I don't wanna get stuck without a smoke. I;d makeit a pac of Superkings, I normaly only smoke rolls so it would be extra sepcial
5: Some Amaretto - Not enouth to get drunk on... it's just a very nice drink, and it has a lot of hapy memories for me
6: All the letters that people wrote to me in the ward - To remind me how much the other people there cared for me
7: Some chocolate - Whoever first sugested that, was a very smart person!

Not sure what else, I will try and think of more things, and add them in later : )
