I hope that all turns out well for you and often just a simple good long restful night sleep solves a lot, plus then add the old saying, don't sweat the small stuff and with the corresponding reply, that most is small stuff, unless you learned you have cancer or the building you are in is burning down around you. I wish the best for you.
Ty KM! :) I know you are right that it's better to go through life not sweating the small stuff, it's something I've been working on for years but I guess sometimes with some kinds of things it just triggers some of my worst, most painful memories of rejection and not being wanted. I still often feel that way with certain things a lot more often than I'd ever wish on anyone. But I am trying to not let that kind of stuff continue to get in the way of my life now because I've already done that for far too long.
Hope you are well and thank you again for caring and replying it was very nice of you, I wish the best for you too :) *hug*hug

You are most welcome. *hugAll folks experience their lives differently as well as what they consider important. Decades ago I did live through something that has always had me saying that 98 percent of what goes on...just live through it, carry on, move on, it is not all that important in the scheme of things.

This sort of thing used to happen "all-the-time," or a whole lot more often than it does now (for some reason?). . . Multiple Cafe`s being made - on 'the dame say!' So... no big thing =D And I almost NEVER Used to go into the Cafe's to actually answer any of them -like back in the days when Jim used to frequent & stuff (or like when it was beginning; & well beyond that!). To the best of my "untrusted~" /_^*(recollected> knowledge; that's only been a more recetn 'phenomenon, ':O) if U will~*> & these days? It is honestly hard to tell you what my favortie colour is / or if I had a favorite elementary school teacher growing, up / what do I find or thikn of 'the weaterh,' & etc.~* ; ) So: I applaud each & every single one of you who puts any kind of effort into opening one of them whatsoever! And yours are just some of the examples (along with Dante's) that are some of the more extraordinary, in my opinion. For if I were to try to tackle something so daunting, it would feel not only incredibly audacious; but also begin to maybe/perhpas~ feel. . . (Just a little bit, Like "Homework?").* :-D And also: the one time some body did actually ask me if I'd ever done so (or had wanted to) --open one; or "It?" I did not/&- or, would not... even know where to begin! Capisce`.? ;D PAECE_>*/~l). . :^)

Something did happen but maybe I was being too sensitive about it. I'm trying hard to work on it but it is hard for me to forget it. But to me it seemed to say mine aren't as good and therefore aren't wanted. I'm always on the lookout for things like that because I don't want to be making people have to deal with something they don't want to if there is someone else they think does it better anyway. Best to just stay out of the way & let the person who does it better (and who is therefore more wanted) do it instead. So that's why I said that. And no, please don't worry about the tagging. I love being tagged, it's a great feeling to be thought of like that! :) Thank you, I would not say thank you if I didn't appreciate it, I mean it very sincerely when I say it. ;):)
Hey sweets. *hug IF it's about the time I said it was impossible to make better Cafés than @Dante , you should know I have this very stupid sarcastic sense of humour and that's all it was - a hyperbole. *facepalm I actually believe that everyone opening them in a unique way makes the whole concept worth it, and not one of them is better than another. But I love how warm, welcoming your Cafés are, and when you share beautiful Art pictures... It is so YOU, it's beautiful. Please don't stop, I would really miss them (even if sometimes I don't answer to them for whatever personal reason).

Also, come on, have you seen Dante's Cafés?! They're so loooong and analytical, and they ask questions about MATHS. Eww, no one likes that.*scared The only reason I reply is because he bugs me about it until I do. *halo

As others have already said, no one here does anything "better" than anyone else. Plus, what members "like" the most is very subjective. Therefore the "best" thing for the Café is to have a variety of members opening it so it can cater to more people.
For example, if you want a very boring Café without any questions but a BUNCH of pretty pictures, then get me to open it up! :D I'm not joking either! I'm terrible at opening but I do try occasionally if it hasn't been opened for a while.
and not let my mind cause me to hold myself back from doing something I actually do very much enjoy doing.
This here is exactly why you really need to keep doing it! Anything that brings us enjoyment is extremely encouraged so please try not to listen to the negative part of your mind and listen to the part that wants to get creative *yes4

I completely agree with Auri! Especially about the beautiful art that you create. We are very similar in how we love to create beautiful pictures so I do look forward to seeing what you've made.

FWIW - Everyone has a unique style and does a fantastic job with their Cafés. You're all friendly, supportive and are creating a social space for us to gather and take our minds away from our problems for a while. Don't ever underestimate how important that is! Even my own boring yet "pretty" Café's play a part in making Jim's the wonderful place that it is! *grouphug2 oxox

Aw ok well thank you for saying that @Auri I appreciate it a lot :) I don't like the idea of putting people through dreadful things of any kind if I can help it cos I know how it feels to have no choice like that and don't ever want to do that to anyone else. I guess sometimes I just take that concept too seriously. And I've been told that I can often take things too much to heart so it's a challenge for me I guess. Sorry I misinterpreted the situation, my brain doesn't always react rationally to some kinds of things for sure, just always trying to protect me from potential rejection I guess. I'm glad it was just over worried though so thank you for letting me know that. I'm so glad you don't think one cafe is better than another and that you like my cafe's and think they are warm and welcoming :) :) :) I never woulda thought anyone would ever say they'd miss them if I never posted any again so wow that is a very nice and kind compliment that I appreciate very much! :) *hug

Lol hmm well I think some people like math so for them I can understand that it would make them like his cafe's more than other ones that say nothing about math ;) I find math interesting, mostly not a fan of it overall cos I've never been very good at it lol. If I was then I'd probably love it too. I love the q's, graphics and tables, they are all great ideas for sure. It's fun to post questions but even more fun to answer them imo.

Ty @Kira too that was so nice of you to say those kind things to me :) And that's cool about us being similar with liking making pictures of things. I will try to keep the things in mind you said about listening to the part of my mind that wants to create, everyone having a unique cafe style and not underestimating the importance of them. You are so right about that last thing especially, it is much bigger than even really being about "whoever posts it" when it can bring happiness to even just 1 other person here :) Thank you for reminding me of these important things *hug

@JMG I put so much effort into my cafes, the fun facts, tables etc because I'm trying to cover how impersonal the feel, I envy how vibrant and personal other people's Cafes are and feel like mine are lacking that. If I didn't have the custom title my cafes would just be block text, i mainly post these to fill gaps, not because I feel they are especially great, though there are some topics I simply can't resist posting for. I miss other people's Cafes.

It's all good, I'm used to being misinterpreted a lot, that is my own struggle, I should be a bit more careful at times. :p

I understand taking things too much to heart, and it's good to recognize when it's a bit of an issue. It's pretty amazing actually, you have a great introspective ability, which is rare.

I know it's hard to do, but I personally would always prefer if someone asked me (send me a PM?) to ask what I meant by a certain post if it affected them in any way (some have already done it). Most of the time I'm sure the person would feel better after I clarified what I meant. But I also make mistakes, which I'd rather rectify. I assure you you won't ever offend or hurt me doing that. I just like open and honest communication, it solves everything, and there is no reason why someone should be tormented by something I posted, ever.

I meant everything I wrote there about your Cafés. Some people like some formats more than others, which is ok, and some like them all. I like to vary the pleasures, I couldn't live with the same thing every day. Seeing the beauty in everything and everyone, that's what it's all about. ;)

And well, you caught me in another sarcastic silly joke. x) I think everyone knows I love maths/sciences. Sometimes it feels lonely not to be able to share such a "hated" passion, so I get overly excited when someone else does. I'm convinced more people would like it in other circumstances, but oh well. *dunno I do try to get people interested, but it's not easy. :D
And yeah, I guess Dante's Cafés are amazing and lovely, too. Don't tell him I said that. *shh

So for any science geeks out there... triboluminescence, or the ability of a material to shine when scratched, crushed (basically, any friction).

The fracture breaks chemical bonds, resulting in a different charge on each side of the break : more electrons (negative charges) on one side, less on the other side. This pushes the electrons to move back across the gap to the other side (recombination), resulting in the emission of light. *stars

These electrons are also interacting with the gas surrounding the crystal as they travel (ionization), which changes the colour of light emitted : anything from blue, to red, to orange, to green... Crashing sugar in air makes it flash blue.

This is the very general idea, it can get funkier by adding impurities to materials and such. :) And since it's impossible to find any schematic of what's going on online, please admire this work of art I drew just for you, dear reader and lover of science :

Is triboluminescence any useful? Yep, for detecting cracks and stresses in civil, aerospace, or biomedical engineering for example.

Thanks for reading. :D *hug

Thanks for opening cafe @Dante

Wishing all a great relaxing Sunday ....

The Happy Table
Where we examine all the things that make you happy (and yes, I know I'm setting myself up for some depressing answers on this table).
1) When was the last time you were truly happy?
Skiing in Zermatt, traveling to New Zealand, traveling to northern California traveling to Sante Fe, year in Paris.....there is clearly a theme here as when I travel I leave all the day to day worries behind and just immerse myself in the present moment of exploring new places, people, cultures and most importantly food...

2) What smell makes you happy when you smell it and why?
This may seem odd...but the smell of hay as brings back memories of playing in barns at country farm auctions as a kid and the time that I volunteered at a horse therapy camp...

3) What was the last thing that made you laugh?
Watching my husband prepare dinner as he has these gestures etc that he does that just always cracks me up...keep threatening to put up a web cam to capture them...

4) Who have you made happy? (this could be a partner, friend or just someone you helped)
My husband, my morning walking buddy, my friends

5) If there was 1 thing that could make you happy, what would it be?
To learn to truly cherish the present moment with whomever I am with or whatever I am doing even if just mundane living

The Story Table
As it is "World Storytelling Day" lets talk about the stories we all love.
1) What is your favourite published work of fiction? (Book/Movie/TV etc)
The Shining still gets under my skin even though have read it and seen the movie multiple times...

2) What is your favourite genre of fiction
Psychological thrillers

3) What is your favourite story from history?
Not so much a story but learning about the experiences of those of Japanese descent having lived through Executive Order 9066 and their incarceration during WWII. A significant period of our nation's history that I had never heard of before I moved to the west coast and which never should be forgotten for a multitude of reasons.

4) Tell us your favourite story from a friend/relative/coworker etc
My walking buddy when they were living in Senegal and their kids were small wanted a Christmas tree...so they got one but unbeknownst to them it was infested with ants which were biting their one daughter. So in the middle of the night in just his skivies her husband grabbed the tree and threw it out the front door...became an annual tradition for them...at the end of the Christmas season.

5) Tell us a story from your life.
Think I have a bit of Calvin aka Calvin and Hobbes in me. As a kid I egged on a friend to push a coke bottle into the street with a long stick to see what would happen...guy in a big Cadillac ran over it, blew a tire all in front of the police/fire station where I lived. My mom chasing me in the shrubbery and making me go to the poor gentleman and the fire and police man to apologize.
